FAQ

What should we wear?

A. You should above all be comfortable in your outfit choice. What you decide to wear will support the look you are going for (as much as the location will). It should also be a reflection of your style and who you are! Feel free to dress as you would if you were going out to a nice dinner, or for what suits your personalities. Here are a few tips for outfit inspiration:

Choose colors that coordinate and compliment. No need to "match" colors or tones. Think about using one or two base colors that you love and find coordinating tones. Various shades of one or two colors will look more interesting than both of you in the same outfit. Mix in a few pieces of neutral tones and you're all set!

Dress for the season. Keep color association in mind when planning your session wardrobe! For example, earth tones or deep/rich tones tend to make us think of the cooler months (burgundy, navy, olive green, mustard yellow). Bright or cheerful colors, such as blue, white, sage, pink, lavender, or teal, remind us of a warm summer day.

For a formal look, consider a flowy gown, fancy lace, suit jacket, or dress shirt.

It would be best to avoid patterns and prints, florescent colors, thin stripes, graphic designs, flip flops, sneakers, offensive wording, and wrinkles.

How can we prepare for our session?

A. Coordinate outfit choices, and also consider having your hair and makeup professionally done as it photographs so nicely. Don't be afraid to let me know if you want to include anything out of the norm in your session! Making me aware before will help with planning and timing.

Do you provide suggestions on locations?

A. Of course! We will chat about your vision for the photographs and a bit about what you enjoy. This will help narrow down our location choices that feel fitting to you.

Can we do an outfit change during the session?

A. Of course! We can set a stop time during the session for an outfit change. I would suggest limiting your outfits to one wardrobe change.

What if the forecast looks unfavorable on our session date?

A. I keep an eye on the forecast a few days prior. If the forecast is challenging, we will make the call together the morning of your session date. If the forecast calls for rain more than a mist, we can reschedule. If the day is overcast, we will keep the date. Overcast days are great for photos. If you have a hair and makeup appointment scheduled and need 24 hours notice to postpone with your artist, we can make the decision 24 hours prior to the session. Just let me know!
